Only the Chosen Have Inner Divinity

There are two types of people on this planet.  Those with inner divinity and those who must seek divinity outside of themselves.  Knowing the difference between the two will allow you to successfully navigate our reality.

Two weeks ago, Ausar and I were driving on a road.  He had his favorite GPS setup that he purchased several years ago, and I had my cellphone’s google map turned on.  We came to a point on our path where google told us to take a road that was not in Ausar’s GPS system.  When we made the turn, his system panicked thinking we were on a non-drivable path. At this moment, Spirit revealed to me, this is the difference between a person who has inner divinity and one who does not.

A Tasty Halloween Treat

Pumpkins are popping up in stores everywhere, as families prepare for Halloween and fall activities.  With our Halloween Zoom Costume Party approaching, I know everyone is preparing to buy a pumpkin to carve for our group competition.  Before you throw out those seeds, I want you to try a simple recipe that will make a wonderful fall treat.

Pumpkins come in many shapes, colors, and sizes.  The one thing they all have in common is their seeds.  Pumpkin seeds are loaded with the nutrient content your body needs.  They are high in protein, healthy fats, and are an excellent source of magnesium, zinc, and calcium.  So before you throw out those seeds, I suggest you save them to make a healthy, tasty treat your family will love.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350° and grease with cooking spray (avocado or olive oil).

Step 2: Remove seeds from pumpkin: Scoop them out with an ice cream scoop or big spoon and place in a colander

Step 3: Rinse to get rid of any pulp

Step 4: Transfer seeds to paper towels and pat dry

Step 5: In a bowl, toss seeds, sea salt, and spray with the cooking oil

Step 6: Spread seeds on prepared baking sheet and bake, stirring occasionally, until seeds are golden, about 25-30 minutes

Making this tasty snack is a fun fall activity you can do with your family. The delicious aroma of pumpkin coupled with the group interaction will make memories that will last a lifetime.

Yoga as a Stress Management Tool

Whatever misconceptions you have about yoga and stress management should take a back seat. While most people have the notion that you must be flexible to do yoga; anyone can benefit from it regardless of their age. Even people who are not flexible see quick results.  In fact, yoga can benefit all ages because it is a practice geared at helping you become aware of the mind/body connection.

The raves about yoga is more than just a trend.  Although its physical and psychological benefits for stress management have now taken America by storm, yoga is an ancient practice that has been around for centuries.

When most people think about yoga, they envision a person doing a stand on his head while he twists his foot behind his neck like a human pretzel.  However, there are many styles of yoga that are easier to do.  Hatha yoga is one of the most flowing and gentle options and a good starting point for beginners.  Vinyasa is more athletic while Bikram or “hot” yoga is not recommended for beginners.

The goal of yoga is to synchronize the breath and movement. As you work through the poses, it requires you to inhale and exhale at specific times.  Breathing only through your nose keeps heat in the body and keeps the mind focused. Concentrating on your breath is the key to yoga for stress management, as it helps you let go of external thoughts and anxiety.  The easiest way to bring yourself into the present moment is to focus on your breath.  Your worrying thoughts will disappear as you focus on how air goes down your nose and into your body.

Benefits of Practicing Yoga for Stress Management

Restful sleep

Release things that no longer serve you

Live in the present moment

Decreases stress and tension

Increases strength, balance and flexibility

Lowers blood pressure

Reduces cortisol levels

Regulate your emotions

Yoga is a personal practice and no two people can or should hold a pose in the same manner.  You should work at your own level of flexibility, one that is challenging but not overwhelming.  If you are uncomfortable with what the instructor is telling you to do, don’t do it.  Your body will warn you if you are going to hurt yourself.  It is important that you listen to your body, gently push your limits, and do not allow yourself be overcome by ego.  Allow your body to guide you.

If you would like to learn more about yoga, we offer an On-Demand short course that will teach you about this ancient art.  It comes with an in-depth video lecture and an instructional e-guide.  When you are doing yoga, it is not about doing it better or worse than others. What matters most is how relaxed you can allow yourself to become.

Keep in mind that yoga is a slow process.  Let go of expectations, competition, and judgment. As yoga brings you into the present moment, you will experience joy not only in the physical movement and mental benefits but in spending time in the now.

The Difference Between a Poor Man and a Rich Man are His Thoughts

Late last night I posted a video and podcast about President’s Trump’s Platinum plan for Black Americans and shared it on social media.  As soon as I posted the link to the podcast, a member in one of our groups responded with an angry face and commented, “I will pass on that.”  Just by seeing the name Trump, she was unwilling to listen to the details of his plan.  Although, it was insulting, she proved what we have been teaching for several years now.  Most people are perishing because they have a closed mind that is unwilling to receive divine blessings.

3 Simple Steps to Live a Stress Free Life

Stress has become a part of our daily lives, as unexpected events continue to manifest in our reality.   As COVID-19 spreads, flesh-eating amoebas appear in the water supply, fires burn in the west, and sink holes pop up in unexpected places. Stress levels are at an all-time high.   Therefore, stress management is critical.  It is important that we take control of stress before it ends up controlling us.

No one can deny the fact that stress can be a big hindrance in everything we plan to do in our lives.  If left unchecked, it can affect your business, career, and relationship with your family and friends.  If you give in to the irritation and anger that is often the result of stress, you are bound to make wrong decisions and crucial mistakes that can sour your life experience.

Falling prey to stress’s influence can cost you your job, lead to poor business deals, or even create unnecessary enemies. Therefore, it is important that you learn how to control and get rid of stress every time it crops up.  You can do so by following these three simple steps.

Step 1: Identify the Source of Your Stress

Knowing the source of your stress gives you plenty of options to counter it. If your stress stems from overwork, take some time off from your busy schedule to relax. The home can also become a stressful environment, especially when it is disorganized.  The statement, “cleanliness is next to godliness,” is truer than most realize.  Negative energy festers in dirty areas, therefore, take the time to clean your home to rid it of negative energy.  Once it is clean, you will notice a difference in the atmosphere and an increase in your spirit.  Once you can determine the cause of your stress, you can take the necessary steps to correct it.

Step 2: Use Relaxation Techniques

Allot time in your busy schedule to do 10 minutes of mediation every day.  I recommend finding a quiet area in your home.  Choose a time when you will not be bothered, preferably when you first wake up.  Light your favorite incense and turn on some soft music.  Make yourself comfortable by either lying down or sitting upright with your legs folded in front of you.  Close your eyes and imagine you are in a place that brings a peaceful feeling into your mind.  I normally envision the beach.  Take deep breaths as you listen to the music.

Meditation is a simple technique that anyone can do in a short amount of time.  Taking the time to still your mind will help to eliminate stress as you prepare yourself to start your day.

Step 3: Tap into your Inner Child

Kids are known to be stress free. Even if you scold them or force them to eat vegetables, you will never see them suffer from stress, because their minds are free to enjoy their life experiences.  You too can rewind time and allow your inner child to enjoy life.

Tap into your younger self by taking the time to play. You can grab your X-box out of the cabinet and bring out the games you usually play during your free time.  Another idea is to listen to your favorite music, watch cartoons, or read some comics on the internet. You can even play online games to take your mind off your problems.  The method you choose to remove stress from your life is irrelevant. The idea here is to learn how to divert your mind from the problems that cause stress to give yourself time to relax so you can later face the problem with a rational mind.
